I really, really don’t like the fact that women abort their children without immediate risk to their lives. I find abortion detestable. If your life isn’t directly threatened by your pregnancy, there is zero reason to abort. There’s no sense in the loss of two lives when one can be saved.
That being said, it is currently legal with no restrictions throughout most of the country. With the level of animosity that is felt for the women going in and doing something that, while immoral, is totally legal; I can’t fault people for volunteering to make these women feel safe in that moment. I don’t doubt that many of the women struggle with the decision, and adding fear to that mixture of emotions isn’t good for anyone.
You also don’t win people over by shaming. I used to be unabashedly pro-abortion until I got a little older and was more exposed to the medical industry, on top of the natural process of maturation that occurs between 16 and adulthood. I didn’t have my mind changed through reproach, which usually makes the other party want to rebel and do the exact opposite of what you are asking them to.
You still sound pro-abortion.
God bless the protesters.
Just because it’s legal doesn’t make it right. The poorly-written article didn’t say anything about shaming anyone. They were just standing in the way. Maybe they’re able once in a while to change the woman’s mind. That’s a good thing.
Like slavery in 1860. So it's all good....
I understand what Tacrolimus1mg is saying. I too (believe it or not) used to be pro choice.
Listen to Abby Johnson or anyone who has ever worked for Planned Parenthood or an abortion clinic they will tell you what I’m about to.
The best way to “protest” at an abortion clinic is not screaming at the women but praying and telling the women you are there to help them.
Yelling at them, telling them they are “baby killers” and holding signs of aborted baby parts will not encourage them to come to you. It will only make them run faster into the clinic with the deathscorts covering them with very large umbrellas
Those signs? You know the ones with aborted babies yes I do use them are to be used outside state capitols near politicians who are voting on abortion laws or at other right to life marches. Again want to make clear you don’t want the women running from you. You want them coming over and talking to you about choices they have, choices they won’t be told in the clinic. It’s more than just protesting that they are killing babies, it’s saying to the women alternative.
On hand you have the name and number of a crisis pregnancy center and any other state agencies that can help her in this time. Some times you have free orange juice and donuts to sit and talk to them before they go in. This is very important. Get them to drink that and eat that before they go in!!! They are not to have those before an abortion so if they do and the nurse asks “have you had anything to eat today” well...no abortion for them! HA! They may change their mind and/or by the time they can make a new appointment it’s too late.
Posibilities are endless, I’d tell you more but it’s 6 am and I have not had my Free Republic coffee so I have no idea if what I just said even made sense. Just hope that that my point got across and that you understand how important that job is.
Abortion is an act of violence.
Always was, always is.
Yeah, well, it kinda confused me why conservative folks even give a damn about someone voluntarily removing their stupidness from the gene pool but it became obvious to me that we care a lot more about the propagation of the species and their own health and the life of their child than they do.
Yeah. Stupid.
