There is a video out there. These bears can catch the bike easily.

They can also easily catch a running man. Still, better than standing there.

Okay...run from a black bear, go fetal and play dead for a grizzly. Am I right?
So what was this guy doing poking it with his walking stick?

How far off was the bear when he noticed it?
Far enough to back away and stay out of range until the bear lost interest?
So close there were no options?

Rule #1: DON’T POKE A 900 POUND CARNIVORE WITH A STICK.

Now I’m getting a 401, access not authorized, on that photo. You may need an alternate image host to Verizon.

Ummm, back away slowly at first and then take off on your bike?

It may be possible to outrun a grizzly ...

LENGTH	WEIGHT	TOP SPEED (RUNNING)	FEELS LIKE
8'2"	551.2lb	34.8mph 25.1mph

Then again, it is difficult to outrun a grizzly ...

How unbearable, so Daddy is Home and Seven is Happy Dog again- sort of. Probably because the bedtime snacky is a bit off abbynormal. So You’re burned out being Head Nurse and fixing everything. The guy coulda used Yer Boa for Tactical and Tourniquite on the leg. You know it’s OK to take a break from being a Caregiver. I’ve overworked Myself and several times and it has to be pointed out because the Caregiver goes on Autopilot and Adrenaline/Caffiene.

Take Care !

Mountain bike trails are generally ideal ambush points for a bear or cougar to take down a biker.

So it was premeditated? 😆

Pre-meditated? On whose part? I doubt that the dude wanted to meet a bear. The bear...who knows? But many mountain bike trails are as predictable as railroad tracks, and about as easy to turn around on.

I use Firefox ESR, which you can use the legacy extensions with, such as BBcodeXtra, which enables you to create your own scripts. So that by selecting text or image, or pasting from the clipboard, it will be placed btwn the proper codes. Thank God for such helps (and those code them), esp for my arthritic fingers.

Another option, at least in Firefox, is to select text and right click and choose View selection source, and copy and paste that.
