Not all of us did. The Left convinced the Elite that we must turn inward.

In my decades of work experience in an office, I’ve seen several retiring men replaced by pairs of women; I don’t assume women are “advancing” on merits. As with other affirmative action situations, companies were told “Hire your quota of women or else”; that has morphed to “Promote those women or else”. The failure to drive them into STEM fields despite every program imaginable speaks volumes about how women are adjusting to this new economy; they aren’t.

Re: IQ tests

That’s an outright lie - based solely on my experiences over the last half a century.

While your proposal has merit; no way in today’s world am I taking someone’s else’s kid “camping” unless one of their parental units goes with.

Sadly, I agree; there is a lot of exposure for the father in this case - and the unrelated child.

I remember playing with my children in a playground years ago; they were in some kind of jungle gym contraption (with tunnels and such) and I was circling, reaching in and grabbing/tickling them. Another kid came up and wanted to play, but there was no way I’d lay a finger on him. It was very sad, really. For all I know, he had a perfect family with loving parents - I just couldn’t expose myself to anything by letting him join in. This is where we are now...

If the young men were so wussified, we wouldn’t have these banshees complaining that men won’t “get right” and accept their status as second-class citizens, marrying women, giving them children, then leaving when ordered to do so. I’m not sure what young men are supposed to do; every alternative seems better than marriage and fatherhood to them. The legal climate must change, and to do so the cultural climate must as well.

I’d rather have a 30 year-old childless bachelor son than a 30 year-old divorced and broke son with children he and I would never see.

(women) perform better on iq tests

It depends on the range you are looking at.

The median girl's score may be slightly higher than boys, but at the extremes, the boys dominate. There are a lot more very stupid guys, AND a lot more brilliant guys.

The so-called "glass ceiling" is more a reflection of the fact that there just aren't that many women who are as smart and driven as the top 0.1% of guys.

Really? When I started working in the ‘70s women were routinely underpaid and overperforming for the level they were promoted to. Never have seen women routinely promoted because they were women—and certainly not able to do only half the job of a man who preceded them.

They largely are simply not interested in your typical STEM job, But they are often good at marketing, account management, PR and HR jobs, for example, at tech companies.

I expect there are a lower percentage of women than men who would be very good at coding, engineering, etc. But if we weren’t obsessed with social engineering that really wouldn’t be an issue.

What type of jobs did you see them in pairs replacing the work that a single man had done previously?

The settlements of the big financial firms in NYC showed the issue in a nutshell; fill the slots with the correct quota of females or pay millions - and hire a “chief diversity officer” (anyone but a straight white guy).

I was born in the 70s so can’t speak to practices of the time; I’ve worked in the environment of 60% female college classes that still result in underrepresentation in STEM.

Mostly accounting functions.

It actually works for everyone because they tend to be older and hire a buddy (usually of similar age), so younger workers have a measure of security in fresher skills/more recent education - and we ALL get to work the bare minimum hours they work (these aren’t the “tip of the spear”; they’re working half a man’s job). They set horrible examples, so it is easy to shine in that environment.

Again, the underrepresentation in STEM IMO doesn’t mean a whole lot. Most women just have a) very little interest in actually becoming a techie and b) working either lots of overtime or choosing a career path to optimize their direct earnings. The latter is not an evolutionarily winning strategy for them and doesn’t tend to optimize their lifestyle or liiving standard. Now that I think of it, it wouldn’t surprise me if there was a co.parative mismatch between male and female accounting students and I guess workers. The women may be more likely to come out of and aspire to the bookkeeper model in general and the men to the CFO or big accounting firm partner mode. Relatively more able women to go into liberal arts or law or medicine.

The underrepresentation in STEM is significant in the US because outside of government work, they will be the only jobs with decent earnings - and those fields increasingly touch on many others (think of the computers in cars, cellphones - really miniature computers at this point, etc.). With a media and legal profession obsessed with equality of outcomes, they ignore the equality of EFFORT - demanding bookkeepers receive comparable pay to accountants, for example. BTW, it is no accident that “finance” isn’t included in the STEM acronym - it can be easy enough to accommodate people who aren’t very motivated. Yet all that does is lead to female accountants bemoaning their incomes compared to male actuaries - even though there is no comparison between the level of preparation and work involved in those fields.

I disagree that only STEM jobs will pa decently. Good sales and marketing for example is still valuable.

But yeah, no comparison for pay should be made between the likes of bookkeepers and actuaries. And the whining of any but white males needs to stop. Already there is a subclass of Freeper white males worse in the whining department than any women or racial minorities here.

There will always be SOME other jobs (non-STEM) that pay well, but there won’t be nearly enough of them compared to the general population.

The white men are done whining; they’re walking away, and now everyone else gets to function without them (while providing for the imported replacements for the children the white men won’t produce). I’ve personally benefited with the advancement of tokens in the “diversity economy”; I get to work like them, and I’ve honestly never had such a great work-life balance. Because many of them are a bit older than me, my main concern is what happens when they retire or die off; am I going to have to work hard like I did ten years ago? I certainly don’t want their jobs; then I might be expected to answer an email or cellphone after 5:00 pm.

Interesting. And this is the private sector, right? Because I am a late Boomer and my understanding had always been that it was Slackers like you and even more so Millennials of course that killed the business work ethic.

Yes, private sector. Over the years I’ve been promoted several times by older experienced supervisors, and now simply slipped into low gear and work like a token ROAD (retired on active duty). I didn’t kill the work ethic; affirmative action did - it put race/gender over merit/competence. If I wasn’t worth my salt, I’d be out of a job - but nobody wants my job (it involves work).
