The way I see it, anyone who would be so negligent doesn’t deserve to breathe anyway, so I really don’t care if it was an accident or not.

I do not disagree with that sentiment at all.

Personally, if this was me, and I did this as an accident, I would very likely kill myself.

I don’t think I would be able to live with this.

Absolutely. I don’t care if it’s an ‘accident’ or not, people need to be charged and punished for this crap. I bet he would not have forgotten his cell phone in the car. I also remember the Cooper Harris case from a few years ago where the ‘father’ deliberately left his young son to broil inside the car. He was charged with murder and found guilty.
