It was said the Mule was never even or rarely in the office. He knows nothing ... if he was black hat or even blackest of the black as I’ve even considered along the way ... he’d have all the rabid propaganda at the ready.
I’ve considered RR & the Mule could be white hats, black hats or - most likely - (in some ways) leveraged.
Even if they were supposedly or could possibly be white hats, you’d still treat them as leveraged because you wouldn’t know what blackmail etc., the DS would have on them that could spoil things.
I’ve always considered the Mule op was a sting because it got all the bad actors together. Remember Strzok & Page got their government issued phones with the special program that nobody knew about that kept messages even though someone tried to wipe those devices. I’ve always said the question is whether RR & the Mule were leading the sting or its first targets.
