Got this out of the wall of text. It wasn't a parable, it was a conversation. The young man contended that he had followed all the Law since his youth. It was then he was told to give everything away and follow Him. Since he was wealthy, he couldn't do it exposing his failure in keeping the first commandment.
Ok it was a conversation when Christ answered his question and he was not happy and went away saddened
Thanks, xone.
It isn’t the evils of being rich, it is the lack of faith.
After telling Jesus he has kept the entire second-table faithfully, Jesus tells him he has not kept the first-table and lacks “one thing”...faith.
Faith in God’s promises over and above his own efforts to save himself by his works. AND! Standing before this rich, young man is the fulfillment of those promises, yet...the man does not see what is plainly before his eyes.
