A Closer Look at North Korea's "New" Missile Submarine

North Korea released a number of images of Kim Jong-un inspecting a new submarine. The images show the North Korean leader touring what appears to be a submarine in drydock, under construction. Experts believe the new sub will carry nuclear-tipped missiles that could be used to threaten U.S. military bases in Japan and throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

The photos, released via the state-run KCNA news agency, show Kim and an entourage touring a submarine inside a massive construction building. The submarine appears similar to existing North Korean subs—but with a catch. The submarine appears to have an expanded sail with launch tubes for Pukgeukseong-1 ballistic missiles.

The sub is a modified Soviet diesel-electric Romeo class with a larger sail to accommodate three missiles. The Romeo is a 50s design. Not sure what technology the ChiComs have shared with the Norks to update it.

I always say that all NK seeks with negotiations is time, time for delays in actually resolving anything, delays in which new means of war are developed and built as new means of threats, for new negotiations, for more delays. That has been the regime’s diplomatic modus operandi during all its existence.

China may one day rue the day it fought to save that regime.

The crews of these cans aren’t informed that they are looking at the inside of their own coffins.

Word is they’re still peeling off the old name “Merrimac” from the sides. This sub is *old*.

North Korea's New Ballistic Missile Submarine Is A Refurbished Antique
The boat is based on a dated 1950s Soviet design, but that doesn't mean it isn't a significant development.

Chavez was in league with all of these.

He desired soviet boats and Iranian and Nork missile technology.

Russia wants a new Cuba in our backyard, and a warm water port.
China wants the so called China sea.

The Devil took Chavez in a cloud of sulfur, but gave the world Maduro

We both know that a diesel boat underwater on electric power is extraordinarily hard to detect. Thus the amount of time it can stay on electric power is the key to its effectiveness. The new AIP diesel boats that can stay under on electric for weeks are a very effective boat.

Hope things are well for you my friend
