The fact that no one, even us, has been able to repeat the feat in 50 years is proof we didn’t do it. That was put forward to me by a friend, who is definitely NOT a moon landing conspiracy nut, as the most convincing argument the nuts could possibly make. Of course, the REASON we didn’t do it again is NOT because it was impossible, but because we had little interest in doing it again.

I hear this piece of nonsense every day these days. The fact is, we did go back to the moon. Three or four times iirc. After that there just wasnt much left of interest to discover about the lunar surface, and the expense was mounting rapidly.

We went to the moon six times between 1969 and 1972 and 12 people walked on the moon.
Google it.

We didnt go back because the Democrats were in the ascendancy, and Nixon was embattled, and the Liberals defunded NASA and manned space exploration to spend money on earth instead of throwing it away in space. I know of no money shot into space. . . but that was the rhetoric. By the time Reagan got into office, the infrastructure was gone.
