The Humane Society evacuated animals that were up for adoption in Louisiana shelters, which helps increase capacity for dogs and cats that may be displaced in the storm.
Ahead of Tropical Storm Barry making landfall along the Louisiana coast, more than 120 dogs and cats in the storm's path were flown to safety.
The animals were evacuated Friday from St. Landry Parish Animal Control and St. Martin Animal Shelter in Louisiana and flown to Manassas in northern Virginia, the Humane Society of the United States said.
Staff and volunteers of the humane society helped unload the pets from the plane and took them to nearby shelters with the hope that they will eventually be adopted.

Were these animals put in Kiddy Cages like illegals invaders?
Really, who can blame cats and dogs for making up their own religions (for cats, that they are gods and for dogs, that we are) to explain the happenings in their lives?
WE have a wonderful Humane Society here, unwanted dogs from CA and other places are flown up and get adopted by local families. My good friend adopted Max, a Labrador-Newfoundland mix, biggest blackest dog in the world, terrific watchdog and cuddlebum too. Some Katrina animals were flown up too.
Pitbulls and Planes.
Too bad we can't help US Citizens... Veterans who are homeless on the streets...
But they enjoy drinking out of the toilet.
Good for them getting out!
The homeless refuse any help.
Cats and dogs go where you take them and appreciate it, if you help them.
I hope they will find good adoptive families.
I hope they aren’t putting them in cages or there will be more hell to pay from the left.
The madness continues.
Glad they have all that money...
We take a lot of dogs from Texas all over northern Mi.
Good photoshop.
