Then Howard turns to Rice with a question she didn't encounter in medical school: "Can I ask you: Last summer, why was it so hot?"
"The overall trend of the hotter summers that we're seeing [is] due to climate change," Rice says, "and with the overall upward trend, we've got the consequences of climate change."
For Rice, connecting those consequences heat waves, more pollen, longer allergy seasons to her patients' health is becoming routine. She is among a very small but growing number of doctors and nurses who discuss those connections with patients.

I pay my doctor to be expert in the field of Medicine. If shes dabbling in climatology on the side Ill find another doctor.
L
Do they have a prescription to cure climate change?
Has your doctor talked to you about possible exposure to new infectious diseases brought in by illegal immigration?
Why was it so hot last summer?
Because we have 4 seasons and people forget how hot and cold it is between the extremes. Can I ask you why it was so cold last winter?
Time for a new doctor.
My doc asked me if I “felt safe” at home.
I told him I live alone with two cats.
The male is an 18 pounder, but I think I could take him if it came to it.
‘Dr., are you a climatologist?’
Ask the doctor why it was hotter when the dinosaurs were here and what did man do to make the earth more cool and comfortable for man? Is it wrong to keep earth from being hot so other species can thrive as nature intends?
If your doctor talks about climate change, that is a red flag that you need a new doctor immediately, as God only knows what other dangerous nonsense he believes.
My Dr. who is a Harvard grad, has a picture in his waiting room of a Dr. studying a book and Christ at his shoulder pointing out where to look.
An American and State flag outside his office and at the counter where you pay, or arrange the next appointment etc. is a framed copy of the 10th Amendment.
Yes, a lot of doctors are idiots about AGW/ACC. LGBTQABCDEFG too.
I would answer by passing gas loudly, and exclaiming: “I’m doing my part!”
Anyone who denies that the climate is changing is a fool. It has always changed and always will.
Is mankind the cause of it? No.
Can we do anything about it? Absolutely not.
End of discussion.
This one wont. Nor will I discuss the guns in your house except to compare types and calibers.
Sodium cyanide tablet, 100mg. Take one with a large glass of water.
Whats next, NPR?
Has your plumber talked to you about climate change? Has your barber talked to you about climate change?
The possibilities are endless!
Actually you should feel safe, because your cats will protect you, if anyone would try to harm you.
Good kitty, kitty.
Tell that to your doctor, if he asks again.
Doctors keep getting into things that are non of their business, while knowing less and less about diseases that are their business.
Remember, not long ago doctors were told to ask whether you own a gun. But I think they gave up on that.
I’ve know quite a few MDs. They are not exactly physicists. And, they very probably do not do detailed statistical analysis of health trends - and I KNOW those health trends to not even come close to sully analyzing all variables.
As such, I’d trust a physician very very slightly more than I’d trust a journalist for my climate information.
As for NPR, well, they are NPR precisely because they are NOT scientists.
