Soccer champion Megan Rapinoe’s brother, Brian, has a history of involvement with white supremacist prison gang activity, ESPN reported on Sunday.
Brian joined a white supremacist gang while he was in prison for car theft and other crimes. His hands, sides, and legs were tattooed with Nazi symbols, including a swastika and lightning bolts. Brian explained them as an effort to become “an active participant in prison culture.”
Rapinoe said that she “thought [the tattoos] were horrible.” But, she added, “I could rationalize them: I understood that when he first got in there, he was searching for identity, trying to survive.”
According to the Anti-Defamation League, white supremacist prison gangs, some of which boast thousands of members, pose a serious threat to Jews and other American minority groups. White supremacist activity in general has increased dramatically in recent years.
Brian has distanced himself from Nazism and altered his tattoos so that they no longer mark him as a member of a white supremacist group. The swastika on his palm is now a spider’s web, and the lightning bolts are now part of a larger skull tattoo.
However, Brian has kept some tattoos, including a large neck tattoo that reads “SHASTA” — his home county. The reason? So that he can connect with teens in juvenile delinquency programs at risk of going to adult prison.
“These tattoos, it’s gonna get their attention,” he said. “It’s like, dude, you don’t think I know what I’m talking about?

No fan of Nazi ideology, but whites in prison, unless they self protect, will be the victims of black and Hispanic gangs. Prisons should probably be segregated by race, irrespective of civil rights laws

Yeah, there isn’t much choice for whites who make up maybe 10% of the prison population, if they don’t want to get dressed up like a woman and used like one too.

Not virtue signaling but it does help me understand her behavior and lifestyle better. She’s had a rough go.

One has to wonder what it was like in that household growing up. It appears to an outsider that there was no rudder at all in that place—the kids just flowed to two completely opposite ends of the spectrum.
My brother and I are very different—but raised in the same household. But the basic foundation of our morals a dedication to work and family are the same. That happens when there is a consistent hand on the wheel.
But I’ve seen complete degenerates who have a basic respect for our country and major institutions.
I would respect her a ton if she said that she would not be attending a meeting at the white house for personal reasons. But to jump on the opposite side indicates an attempt to politicize an event that should be devoid of politics.
Finally, I agree with her that the woman should be paid using the same standards as the men—whether that be based on revenues or a pooled fund. But that is not up to Trump, or Congress, or you or me. That is up to US Soccer—and them alone.
I guess my point to this woman is, “take the compliment” and gain allies. You do not need to “preach” and be angry.
