Beer and a good cigar work for me.

Regarding the Cincinnati Reds/Cincinnati law suit. Long story, short. Hamilton County owned the old Riverfront Stadium. Hamilton County leased Riverfront to the city of Cincinnati. The Reds stopped paying rent to the city of Cincinnati because they found out that the Bengals were not paying rent. The amount of back rent was over 10 million dollars.

Cincinnati had waived the Bengals rent because the Bengals had threatened to leave if the Hamilton County/City of Cincinnati did not build them a new stadium. The rent waiver was bribe so the Bengals would not leave. he rent waiver was a bribe so Bengals would not leave.

To solve the problem Hamilton County shoved a new sales tax down our throats. I found out about the 10 million in back rent owed by the Reds and the illegal no-rent deal the city made with the Bengals. Further, I found out that the City had not kept up with the 20 million sinking fund required to maintain/repair the old Riverfront stadium. The money was gone; perhaps was not there because of no rent payments. Of course extensive repairs was one of the excuses for a new stadium. All this crap was illegal and the County and City were in a hurry to get the new stadium tax passed to make it all go away.

Many people were against the Stadium tax and I still doubt about the accuracy of the vote.

We filed a suit as a Qui Tam action for the 10 million Reds back rent. A Qui tam similar to a whistle blower suit where whistle blower can claim a portion of the winnings if you prevail.

We got an injunction for Reds opening day that year. City and Reds quickly judge shopped and got the injunction overturned. When first reporting the story the news media called our Cincinnati resident front-man a racist skin head even though he was simply a conservative with a dark-skinned Philippine wife.

At trial, the judge appeared to bend over backward to help the city and the Reds, but the state laws were black and white and they had no defense. Trial took almost 2 years but we won.

The city/ Reds attorneys contacted our attorney and offered us a nuisance fee to go away. We told them to pound sand as the laws were crystal clear and there were no appeal-able errors in the trial court.

They were right...the appellate court overturned the lower court decision without any comment. It was my understanding that an appellate decision always required explanation. Our attorney said it was almost unheard of. Regardless, they knew we did not have the money to take it to the Ohio Supreme court.

The whole system is corrupt. You or I would have gone to jail for this kind of crap.
