Theres a recurring complaint with King County Metro customers: The buses or bus stops smell of human waste. And some customers are losing their patience, sometimes unfairly.
Either you have a serial dumper or no one did anything to address this, one customer complained. Sick of it. Clean this [expletive] up, literally.
As a frequent bus user, Ive experienced some of the same observations on routes 70 and 8. The bus or bus stop can sometimes smell as if its been used as a toilet.
KTTH and MyNorthwest, through a public disclosure request, poured through over 15,000 complaints filed with Metro online throughout all of 2018, and we noticed a trend. Its almost assuredly a direct consequence of a regions out of control homelessness which Metro isnt remotely responsible for.
One complaint said the stench near a bus stop of the Rapid Ride E, at South Washington Street between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue, was so bad, a bus rider literally gagged.(snip)
One user felt scared in downtown Seattle where they constantly deal with aggressive panhandlers. It was not the users first complaint(snip)
In Wallingford, a rider complained that the bus stop is disgusting due to human waste and garbage that hasnt been cleaned for days.(snip)
...Ive routinely seen bus drivers let homeless people on the bus without paying or showing a pass, usually (and understandably) to avoid a tense showdown that makes the already-late bus even more tardy to their next stop.
Some of these homeless individuals are clearly causing the stench on board and, rather than getting help, City and County leaders keep them in an unhealthy state, while ruining the Metro experience.

AAAAHHHH! The smell of liberalism!
Beautifully put.
“while ruining the Metro experience.”
Actually it’s part of the Metro experience.
Yes, indeed.
The whole article is filled with whiny liberals complaining about the consequences of liberalism.
They go from “We need a compassionate approach to homelessness” to “Somebody has to clean up this mess!” in no time.
Keep voting in dhimmicrats Seattle.
we call that, Sanctuary City scent
These people are experiencing problems people didn’t used to be stupid enough to put up with. Live with it you moron Democrat voters. And yes, you will.
They want 100% freedom to do what they want without consequences. My plan would be that every liberal who has a spare bedroom must give it to a homeless person.
When I left the city in 2011, the only smell problem regarding metro buses was the smell of burned diesel.
But then, one of the reasons I left was that I saw the writing on the wall. It’s actually happening faster than I thought it would.
And this is why Trump needs to actively campaign in California and the Northwest. Bring along good candidates who will promise to clean this swill up and give the state back to the people.
No one should have to live with this crap and turning states into third world sh*tholes is not conducive with the American dream.
‘Seattle bus riders rail against gagging human waste smell from homeless”
Just keep voting democRAT.
This is what happens when a flawed ideology confronts reality. Cognitive dissonance and denial.
It’s the same thing that happens when an alcoholic or addict refuses to admit that many of their problems are caused by their habit.
Liberals: For the sake of our country, please admit that you have a problem, and that conservatives have the solution. It is the only thing that can save our country.
If you ever travel to the third world they all have open sewers and very unclean drinking water. When “homeless” defecate in the street and the city washes it down the “storm” drain you are essentially creating third world conditions. Storm water is not treated in any way and floats into rivers and the ocean directly.
A lesson learned “From 80-Days Around the World”: “San Francisco Hobo : Now, your stink is your most powerful weapon in your begging arsenal.”
The democrats would rather an area of the country be a shole area with them in charge, than a nice area under republican leadership. This is what they striv for.
Try MARTA in Atlanta.
I can see the ad: Rent in our building, we are on the 12 bus line. Not stinky. Our neighbors crap in toilets, not streets.
Change your apartment, change your pants, change your life.
This sounds like they are talking about Dallas.
Coming to a state near you and me. Ain;t progress grand?
