Lawsuit Against Church of Scientology Alleges Human Trafficking, Intimidation

The action claims the church engaged in human trafficking, child abuse, forced labor, exploitative commercial practices and intimidation campaigns aimed at anyone who spoke out against the church or its leader.

A group of lawyers representing a former member of the Church of Scientology who worked directly with its leader David Miscavige has filed a lawsuit alleging the organization is responsible for decades of human trafficking and intimidation, among other abuses.

More at Tony Ortega's blog: Church of Scientology and David Miscavige sued for abuse by major legal players

"Attorneys representing Jane Doe filed the first of multiple lawsuits to hold the Church of Scientology accountable for its extensive history of alleged abuse including its “Fair Game” policy that demands members destroy, by any means necessary, anyone who speaks out against the abuses committed within the Church

LOS ANGELES (June 18, 2019) – Today, attorneys representing Jane Doe, a former member of the Church of Scientology, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles, Calif., alleging years of heinous abuse, human trafficking, and intimidation by members including David Miscavige, the de facto leader of the Church of Scientology. Jane Doe worked within Scientology for years, including directly for Miscavige.

The complaint filed in the case details Scientology’s disturbing practices including rampant child abuse, exploitative commercial practices, horrific forced labor, and the devastating policies that seek to destroy families and escaped former members. This includes the official “Fair Game” policy which tells members to attack, injure, harass, embarrass, and destroy anyone who chooses to speak out against the Church of Scientology and Miscavige."

This just may be 'The Big One' for Miscavige. This particular legal team has studied the church's legal tactics for years, and is constructing their case to counter all of the church's usual dodges, evasions, witness intimidation practices, back room dealing, judge shopping, hush money, etc.

I saw a program on TV about Scientology. Some of these 60 minutes type shows can be dishonest but if it was true they are awful.

If you really, really want to be blown away by an incredible, horrible, compelling yarn, read the Wikipedia article on L. Ron Hubbard, the founder and prophet of Scientology.

L. Ron Hubbard was a completely insane sociopath. The story of his life and Scientology would make 10 good movies, or a least a fascinating miniseries.

How does someone like this get away with grifting and crime year, after year, after year without every paying the consequences? He was the ultimate con man in every facet of his life. Take a look at the Wikipedia article for a real eyeopener.

I’ve watched both seasons of Leah Remini’s series of Scientology. Each week she’s had 2-5 witnesses to their controlling peoples children and takiing them away from them and in a few cases denying medical care.

Supposedly Miscavige’s woof hasn’t been seen by more than a few close to her husband people in years. LAPD follow-upon a call and went there and the cop No other information provided..

Lastly, a dozen or so people have stated they have been beaten up by Miscavige or have seen him beat up others.

I recommend the series.

Lawsuit accuses Scientology, David Miscavige of child abuse, human trafficking, libel.

Lawyers say more lawsuits will follow. The first, filed in Los Angeles for an unnamed Jane Doe, outlines her life of alleged abuse in the church, including at the international spiritual headquarters in Clearwater.

http://www.tampabay.com/scientology...child-abuse-human-trafficking-libel-20190619/

Excerpt:

A team of eight victims' rights attorneys on Tuesday filed the first of what they promise will be a series of lawsuits against the Church of Scientology and its leader, David Miscavige, on behalf of defectors who say they suffered a range of exploitation from child abuse, human trafficking and forced labor to revenge tactics related to the church's Fair Game policy.

The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of an unnamed Jane Doe born in 1979, outlines her lifetime of alleged suffering in Scientology where she was subjected as a child at the Clearwater headquarters to abuse inherent to auditing, Scientology's spiritual counseling that can more resemble interrogation.

It states she joined the church's clergy-like Sea Org in California at 15, where people worked 100 hours a week for $46. She was at times held against her will. When she officially left Scientology in 2017, Doe was followed by private investigators and terrorized by the church as it published “a hate website” falsely stating she was an alcoholic dismissed from the sect for promiscuity, according to the complaint.

I was involved for forty years. It's all true.

I read that Miscavige was a sociopath and a high school dropout, the classic cult leader. Supposedly, he was groomed by Hubbard to take his place.

The real question is whether the IRS is monitoring this. If COS loses these lawsuits the IRS would have to reexamine their eligibility for the religious tax exemption. Ouch!

Yeah, that's me, and yes, I did defend the philosophy - if not the founder and the organization.

I publicly resigned from the organization six years ago, and in that time, my evaluations of the philosophy/practice itself have changed quite a bit. I no longer accept every bit of Scientology theory/practice/belief as being workable or valid.

Devout churchies would consider me to be a 'squirrel' - i.e., someone who alters Scientology practices.

I just pass them this afternoon in Hollywood. They are “super’ aggressive at the closest train station Sunset/vermont every day. They target tourists who want to see the Hollywood sign when they get off the train station to board the Dash bus.

It’s actually a hilarious pitch: “hey man, wanna see a movie?”

(insert jokes)

Oh, believe me, I'm well aware of L Ron Hubbard's true personality.

Read "Madman or Messiah" by Bent Corydon, or read the overview of the book at Wikipedia.
