I could never understand why Britain needs permission to leave the EU.
I thought Britain was a sovereign nation.
They should be able to anything they damn well please without getting permission.

Same way I feel about any state that wants to secede from the U.S. - don't ask for permission, just leave. Stop paying taxes and send back their soldiers and bureaucrats. Recall your two senators and U.S. Representatives and get out.

Once that is accomplished and a new government has been formed, negotiate a settlement to square any remaining issues and begin trade and diplomatic relations.

Not a shot will be fired but a lot of money will probably be added to the U.S. coffers for the transitional costs so there needs to be some deep pockets backing this. However, if a state like Texas or California wants to leave, they should be able to - just like a major corporation divesting themselves of a division. I'm still hoping Cali gets out. Maybe four more years of Trump can do that.

It’s because they signed a promise to be the Eu’s friend and that they would stick with them no matter what

Like they did with us, then spied and conspired to overthrow our government and get rid of Trump. Great friends those Brits. Outside of Monty Python, Benny Hill and Chaplin, the county is generally useless!
