Did I do the right thing by calling the police?

No, you did the wrong thing. You wasted the time of the police who were busy donut munching. And if they had caught him, so what?
The guy is black, so he gets a free pass. Courts won’t and can’t even handle misdemeanor cases like this any more.
“And honestly, I dont even know if its a crime to open someones unlocked vehicle”
Yes it is a burglary and classified as a felony. At least in sanity town.
A vivid example of how sick a society we’ve become when propaganda has reached a point to cause some to think that a crime depends on skin color.
In this racially charged climate whites have lost all instincts of self preservation.
If you feel the need to question your actions concerning said event, then the answer is obviously no. /sarc-eye roll
And once the poor thug is in the car, is he safe in New York from prosecution? That’s what happens to the millions breaking into the country.
Did I do the right thing by calling the police?
No, you didn't.
But you'll probably never unsderrstadn why.
“But Id rather have my car broken into than have a persons life ruined by my 911 call.”
Really?? I bet he wouldn’t have as conflicted if the kid was white.
He’s another example of a pathetic, miserable, self loathing roach. I truly despise these types.
In a 2015 survey conducted by researchers at the University of Chicago, about half of African-Americans reported being treated badly by police officers because of their race. (Fewer than 5 percent of white Americans said this.)
How would anyone know what's in the cops' heads?
I walked back and while he was still looking in the car, I said what are you doing? His response was, "Oh sorry, I thought it was my car" then he walked away. I immediately checked my glove compartment and discovered he had stolen my my prescription sun glasses where were in their case.
The only thing I could do at that point was go up to my apartment and call the police, which I did. They came and took a report then searched the area. About an hour later, they found the guy under the bridge over the river outside my complex. Meanwhile I searched thru the wooded area that he had to walk thru hoping to find my glasses but all I found was the case without the glasses......
That was the last I heard of it.
In retrospect, when he turned around when I was behind him, I should have decked him........Since he was only in shorts and a t-shirt with a towel, it's unlikely he had any weapon.
How does he know the car’s owner was not black?
(At right) He's a "celebrated Princeton philosopher".
In other words, useless in everyday real life.
The letter to the editor writer is a fool. The criminal’s race means nothing. No doubt written by a NY liberal. Thus, the plight of the criminal’s is not only his fault, but yours and mine, too.
