Weird Als biggest problem is that for two decades now, the music hes parodying is awful. That makes the parodies themselves less than enjoyable. The originals he writes are still good, and he succeeds when he ignores then- or now-current music and reaches back to an earlier time (like American Pie for the Star Wars parody or MacArthur Park for Jurassic Park). But, I dont want to hear Katy Perrys trash even with funny lyrics.
The last I heard from Al was a parody in the style of the Doors. It was great.

Same as it’s always been.
Homer and Jethro ran up against this in the 60s as well

Winchester cathedral
you’re drivin’ me mad
I don’t know who sings it
but it’s mighty sad
I’ll really be glad when
this song disappears
it set music back now
at least fifty years
Now everyone knows
just how much we needed a hit
and now that it’s done all i say
i hope that the world is ready for it

Cute story..... I was at a club when Al walked up next to us and my friend just erupted it was him. When she saw I wasn't impressed in the least, and while he was still standing there, she said excitedly "Don't you know who this is!"...I said "Well No I don't"....She followed with ....."this is Weird Al Yankovic"..I said "Ok but I still don't know who he is"......Needless to say at that point ol Al walked away with his buddies. He wasn't exactly an impressive individual to meet as I saw it.....and still isn't.

While not a fan of Robin Thicke, I loved “Word Crimes”.
