Could a psychopath become a shrink?
Absolutely. My experience with shrinks is that more often than not, they have a screw loose.
Most of them become psych professors at colleges and universities.
They are often crazier than their patients.
You are better off with a therapist who will just listen to you.
Of course!
None usually. And to think they are taught by usually LIB nitwit “professors” who hide in academia with their own mental “irregularities”. Sheesh! That builds a lot of confidence.
None...................
There are maybe 10% of professional “shrinks” who are really quite wise and can offer real insights into medical and psychological reasons for behavior
The remainder are in the profession because of the snakes in their own mind.
Most of them are. The females are violently anti-maile. Most of the males are pantiwaists.
I was lucky that my counselor when my marriage broke up was a retired Army Colonel, an airplane driver whose wife had dumped him while he was in Viet Nam. He pulled me through a really tough time and thanks to him, my son and my lawyer, I came out with custody of my son and minimal alimony!
After my son and I moved to a different state, we both went into further counseling. My sons counselor kept pushing him to let his abusive Mother back into his life. Mine, a woman, kept interpreting everything I said as hatred of females.
I would say that the pyscho services have an unhealthy levening of pyschos!
What about Bob?
Most shrinks are psychopaths. Who else would deliver 400 volts to the brain, put an icepick up an eyesocket or put infants on antipsychotics?
Psychologists typically get an academic masters or doctors degree in psychology. They only get a license if they want to treat patients.
But I'm not sure there is any formal "screening" for mental illness in either process. I would think, however, it would be pretty tough for a nutjob to make it through internship and residency without someone noticing.
Ponder this, though. James Holmes was in a highly selective neuropsych program when he shot up the Aurora movie theater.
Good point, and I love that movie.
All I can say about these folks is that it sure must be nice to have a job where you have ZERO accountability for your work.
The standing joke was they were to run off all the squirrels whenever the old man came around lest they tried to gather him up.
Probably an unfair thing for me to say. But they do seem to be driven to the profession for some reason.
They go into studies to figure themselves out
