My musical tastes cover a wide gamut and I can get into pretty much any kind of rock (or classical, country, jazz and blues for that matter). I'm still mining the decade of the 1970s however. I recently discovered the pre-Steve Perry Journey albums. Pretty good stuff despite the stupid album art.
I have all three pre-Steve Perry Journey albums. They’re great! Actually I never cared much for the Perry era.
I do love Today's Tom Sawyer. When it comes on and I'm driving, I have to turn it up very loud.
My first thought of course went to RUSH. Both the music and the lyrics are intellectual.

“The Garden” (Rush’s wonderful swan song) draws from Voltaire’s Candide (their entire last album “Clockwork Angels” is loosely based on Candide, and Peart’s life experiences).
