No need to call the fire department this time. A cat hanging from the edge of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) was rescued after quick action from a group of Brooklyn students on Friday.
School secretary, Jane Pieratti told Patch that students from Benjamin Banneker Academy noticed the cat hanging off the expressway near Clinton and Park avenues in the early afternoon and took action, getting the word out and even trying to catch it.
Most of the students who spotted the cat from school windows were in a lesson at the time, so Pieratti said they had to wait to rescue the cat when class got out.
n the meantime, Pieratti said her students told her to get the word out on Twitter, so she started posting photos and tagging them with the Department of Transportation and including the mile marker.

Curiosity used to kill the cat; now, Technology saves them!
Is this a great time to be alive or what? ;)

In before the “Free Cat” picture.
I wish there were more details about the situation(I can’t really envision it) and the rescue. If the students had cell phones then you would think that they would have some pictures.
OK. Found some pictures that clear things up.

Oops scratch the 2nd link. It is something else.
What a horrible place to live.
Cute video of the “free-fall cat”
He can land in my back yard anytime. I’ll give him milk.
On the other hand, I question if us bigger humans are naturally more intimidated by heights then domestic housecats are.
From how high could a cat fall onto hard ground and not be injured?
I’ve been there and it is an alien environment to me. I can’t imagine living there. People are the products of their environment, suggesting that the urban northeast creates people who are also alien to me, and me to them.
Maybe that has some to do with the great political divide in the US. Leftism and leftists are alien to the rest of us.
Watering the Tree of Liberty seems inevitable, but it may not be enough. The Civil War failed to eliminate Southern culture. Over time, the same old animosities will resurface.
The solution? Two or three separate countries and hope they don’t get into perpetual wars.
Remember that Israel and Judah fought and separated into two countries. So it can be done.
Apparently the cat was pretty high up, or it would have jumped down a long time ago.
Do you know if cat have clear spot to land?
We have come a long way from a cat trapped on a freeway but yes, people who grow up and live in such an environment can’t help but be shaped by it. They are shaped differently from people in rural areas, the South or the heartland.
One of my ferals climbed into the left front fender of my 1993 saturn sl2. I drove around la...freeways and all and the to work
..kept on hearin a meow...couldnt find cat...when got to work localized it to fender.....called Saturn dealer where i bought car...THEY SENT A TECHNICIAN 20 MILES TO MY PLACE OF WORK AT 5PM during rush hour and he removed the part that kept kitty locked in....I have never seen such FREE service ever...I was flabbergasted....cat renamed Freddy Fender of course.
