RUSH: You know, it amazes me what makes news that happens on this program. You know, yesterday Mr. Snerdley and I were talking about Mick Jagger and his heart valve surgery that hes gonna get done in the U.S. instead of the U.K. national health system, whatever it is. Thats its own little interesting point.
But here is Mick Jagger, who is, I have to say, hes a health nut. Hes a vegan, he did everything right after his initial flirtation as a young rock guy with all of the temptations out there. He is rail thin. He is well known as a physical fitness aficionado. I dont even think the guy consumes adult beverages anymore. And hes got a heart valve replacement operation slated in a couple of days, on Friday, gonna have it done in New York.
On the other side, here you got Keith Richards, who I think has sampled every recreational and pharmaceutical drug there is that alters the mind. He has spent his life doing this. He has spent his life smoking cigarettes like a chimney. He has consumed, and continues to consume, adult beverages in quantities people cant keep up with. And the guy doesnt have a single health problem. He looks like he does, but he doesnt.
So I made mention of this on the program the other day and just refreshed your memory of that discussion. So lets go to CNN International newsroom last night. Anchor John Vause speaking to the Emory Structural Heart and Valve Center co-director, Dr. Vasilis Babaliaros, about Mick Jaggers heart surgery. To set things up they played a clip of me.
VAUSE: Talk show host Rush Limbaugh seemed to put into words what many were thinking. Listen to this.
RUSH ARCHIVE: This boggles my mind. Take a look at Keith Richards, the guy has defied everything. The guy has done so much coke, the guy has done so much heroin. He still gets up, drinks a bottle of beer first thing out of bed. He smokes cigarettes like he owns the tobacco company.
RUSH: And they used me to say, Hey, hey, Limbaughs saying here what a lot of people are thinking. And so they now go to the heart specialist at the Emory Structural Heart and Valve Center to have all of this explained to us.
BABALIAROS: Some of its luck. A lot of its genetics, and certainly diet doesnt seem to affect valve disease that were aware of. So though I think the vegan lifestyle or the vegan diet did help Mick do all his touring for years and years, Im not sure it had any effect on his valve disease.
VAUSE: And Keith? (laughing)
BABALIAROS: Keith is an enigma and will remain so, a medical mystery. So were rooting for both of them.
“hes a health nut. Hes a vegan, he did everything right”
Vegan isn’t healthy
1st thing off many key boards here was “Drugs”,little do some know
Broad statement for sure
2nd thing was "Over dose of Viagra." Don't think so. Many of us are still going strong! Not bragging, it's hereditary, mostly.
Actually those with good cardio function and un clogged arteries, healty diet and plenty of ex never need Viagra.
Mr Happy not working well is the 1st sign of a crappy life style and many like to put the blame else where
Precisely the “conventional wisdom” Rush always rails on about! Emotionally unstable people tend to harm themselves (and others) due to their self-loathing I guess. I compare it to those freaks who get their face tattooed. Hipsters who force their kids to grow up vegans are guilty of child abuse!
The word you need is healthful, not healthy - and you cannot legitimately make such a universal statement.
Child abuse?
More and more, I see fascistic attitudes on this forum: supposed conservatives effectively calling for coercive government intrusion against parental authority to satisfy their own particular prejudices - no differently than would a leftist.
I am a nutritionist with nearly 30 years of extensive experience with a wide variety of dietary regimens. Categorically denouncing any and all vegan approaches is as fallacious as categorically endorsing any and all carnivorous ones.
Limbaugh was hilarious yesterday...All his bumper music was Stones greatest hits which revved up the show.
My God how amazing!
