Hi ThunderSleeps. Just a heads-up, the graphic image of your Android (http://www.ouyactu.com/media/2013/07/android.png) is giving me a 404 error — it times out in Chrome, Firefox, etc. The website www.ouyactu.com returns PING okay, so it’s not a network path issue from here. Might want to check the webserver.
There was a discussion of the options a few weeks ago here on FR. Did not bookmark the thread.
Searched and found this recent one:

Thanks. smile.
I largely disable SSH and use TLS only with full range of versions listed. Some websites don’t like that setting.
SSH is still not very secure and and there is no “fix”, but for that matter TLS is only slightly more secure.
Something better must be in the pipeline. But I haven’t seen it.
Rush has been mentioning a VPN by the same folks that have Idrive for backup, which is the one I use to backup files to the cloud.
About a month ago I signed up with PIA (Private Internet Access). So far, no problems or complaints.
You're thinking of "SSL", not "SSH". SSL was the forerunner to TLS, and what you said about that is all correct.
SSH is "Secure Shell", a login protocol that gives you a Bash (or similar) commandline on a (typically remote) server.
I would suggest just installing Mint and be done with all the Debian issues. They also have 32 bit versions in even the newest releases. The Firefox issue is another whole critter, thank you for sharing that.
I know about Mint, have never run it. I did use Xubuntu, I love XFCE GUI, have used it since Redhat 8.0. I used XFCE to make Redhat 8.0 usable with all the bloat.
I settled on Debian because it the the root of many of the Distributions. It is easily configured with XFCE which is how I use it.
The issues in Firefox are from Firefox and from decisions made in the EU about advertising and content legality. It is a stinkin mess.
Security on the web is due a total overhaul. But I doubt the governments will allow that to really happen. They build the database bigger each day.
So, I intend to do my part to deny them most of what they want. And to maximize my privacy as much as possible.
Yes, you are correct. It was SSL that I meant to write.
I do use SSH when it is available. I hides most of the handshake data from public view.
Still on Win7 here. Ditched FireFox many moons (heh!) ago. Palemoon + NoScript (just allowing the top page works for most sites) + VPN... AFAICT I’ve been pretty safe out there so far...
Thanks, I’ll check that out! I think it’s time I got with the program.
Ok, I got it! It’s installed and I’ll see how it operates. It’s too bad my router can’t have something like this installed directly unto it but hey, beggars can’t be choosers. Thanks for the advice!
As always, thx.
Until recent upgrades on Firefox I was using No Script and loved it. After the Upgrade Firefox is crashing a lot. And is bogged down with scripts.
I look forward to having time to work through fixes for those things. Right now far too busy to take the time.
