Not to change the topic, but most people don't realize that the music composer makes a huge impact on any given scene, as that Wagner composition did for the scene.
There are many good composers nowadays, but until John Williams came along it was all background noise that often didn't fit the moment. Google: movie music composers and you'll understand what I mean.
Any love story or sentimental ending makes us choke up because of the score. Turn the sound off and if not great acting, it's meaningless.
I have to strongly disagree. Elmer Bernstein’s score for The Magnificent Seven is tremendous. As is John Barry’s for You Only Live Twice.
