What makes a great movie? *snip* We all know that it takes the combination of a good script, good acting, and good directing to make a film worth watching. But the one thing that makes a good film great is those movie moments that stir our emotions and go on to last for as long as our minds will allow us to remember.

Agreed! I’ll add Jack Lemon in Some Like it Hot “Osgood I’m a man! ,Nobodys perfect. And Braveheart...Freedom!
Harvey, starring Jimmy Stewart. 1950.
IMHO one of the greatest films ever. It’s free online.
The scene where he says, “It’s always something large. Because nobody brings anything small into a bar.”
What an achingly pure face Mr. Stewart had.
I just watched “They Live” with one of my kids. I tried to get my oldest to watch it, but he wasn’t interested in it. He had heard the quote, but had no clue what movie it was from.
Not my favorite, but belonging in the Top Ten has to be:
The surf kissing scene in From to Eternity.
But my favorites would include ...
Richard Widmark pushing the wheelchair-bound woman down the stairs in Dial M for Murder (IIRC).
Norma Desmond descending the stairs in Sunset Boulevard.
The stargate sequence in 2001: A Space Odyssey
The alien breaking out of the guy’s chest in Alien.
James Dean’s anguished outburst in Rebel Without a Cause.
Flight of the Valkyris Apocalypse Now
The first 5 minutes of The Big Lebowski was a seemingly pointless assault of F-bombs. Couldn’t watch it.
“Got enough dynamite there, Butch?”
In line with your genre, from Young Frankenstein ...
“Put... the kendle ... BECK!”
the author’s smarmy leftism just came through in the film
The Help when Minny serves “chocolate” pie.

read the book
Hated the scene
It was hateful and dishonest.
the whole book was IMHO
The mothership coming over Devil’s Tower. - Close Encounters.
The dance at the carnival at the end of Grease with Olivia and Travolta.
- The Outlaw Josey Wales, Granny Hawkins says to Josey, You can pay me when you see me again, Josey Wales!!!
I always thought The Big Lebowski was a pointless piece of crap. Never understood its popularity.
Any of the Connecticut scenes of Christmas in Connecticut.
Act of Valor: Movie chokes me up every time I watch it, but one scene I love (American righteous might): They just got CIA woman from narcos and are going to 3rd extraction point: Whole scene is good but I cheer and shake my fist when they plunge the truck into the water and around the bend comes the two boats firing a storm of lead at the bad cartel guys, making them cower and run.
“Wwww-ah...ww-ah.”
Patty Duke in The Miracle Worker. #1 in my book.
After Patty Duke saying wah-wah, there’s:
Unmasking the phantom in Lon Chaney’s version of Phantom of the Opera.
Quasimodo (Charles Laughton) given a drink by Esmeralda.
Paula (Ingrid Bergman) rebuking her evil husband at the end of Gaslight.
Cody Jarrett (Cagney) going berserk when told his maw is dead in White Heat.
You talkin to me?" - Taxi Driver
Numerous quotes from Jerry Mcguire.
"Show me the money!"
"You had me at hello."
"You complete me."
Oh! And the spotlight hitting Mighty Joe Young beneath the young lady playing “Beautiful Dreamer.”
