Wow: Republicans now crafting legislation to limit POTUS power in future national emergencies
The National Sentinel ^ | 3/18/19 | Jon Dougherty

Few Democrats and Republicans had any issues with the National Emergencies Act, passed in 1976 to give presidents the authority to declare emergencies in times of crisis.

But since the president is now Donald Trump and the crisis is unchecked illegal immigration, suddenly members of his own party, as well as a growing number of Democrats, have lots of problems with the law — and they want to change it.

Seems like the Koch Brothers still wield much power.

The Hill reports that Republican leaders are currently crafting legislation that would curb the president’s powers during future national emergency declarations.

Would have been nice to have for Obama. I hope the limitations on executive overreach are broad and not specifically targetted to Trump and immigration.

And they will reverse it when trump is out of office. I seem to recollect a lot of dem states like mass pulling this trick. Put in all sorts of limits for Repub govs and repealing them all as soon as a dem comes in.

The GOP are now officially and by their own hands douchebags.

There is nothing and no one they won’t sell out, their country, their party, their President, their wives and girlfriends, their children. They cannot sell their souls since they don’t have one, which I guess settles the theological question of what happens to them in the afterlife.

This legislation has needed attention since its authorship, its bad law... this is how bad laws get fixed... However, yes it is interesting that it took a president using it to actually defend our borders to motivate fixing it, as opposed to sending our sacred blood or treasure all over the damn globe for things that weren’t remotely emergencies or threats.

KOCH BROTHER MONEY... GOP wants open borders, don’t kid yourself.

Much worse than that.
There is stuff coming out about Beto O’Rourke’s wife’s family, and their ownership of land/manufacturing straddling the border and proximity to rail transport.
Possible “Dual usage” if you catch my drift...

A reduction of the power of the office is something this country has desperately needed for a long long time. If this is how we get it, that’s fine.

VETO, Mr. President! In fact, until our con-gre$$ is brought to heel, Veto everything. Let them waller in the shthole they have created, that fetid swamp. Make them vote to override on every single piece of legislation. Twice the work at the same price!

The current crop of politicians would prefer the nation paralyzed rather than cede power to the POTUS.

Some here may be unhappy, but this is how our government is SUPPOSED to work! All three branches constantly battling each other for power, rather than taking from We the People. Congress has mostly been a paper tiger in this fight for about 100 years, since being torn in half by the idiotic 17th Amendment. It’s about time they woke up.

Is there legislation already in the works to stop “catch and release”, “visa lottery”, “chain migration”?
