Yes, I know ... but the term "Free Market Economy" does not begin to describe capitalism as well as the term itself.
For example, an "Anarchy" would be a free market; whereas, our system is characterized by an extensive legal framework conductive to the investment of capital in enterprises.
AND, the CAPITAL CONTROLS THE ENTERPRISE. It is not controlled by laborers, or the "community," or government, or even the lenders unless the equity capital cedes them (i.e., lenders) certain rights or fails to service debt.
Hence "CAPITALISM" is the best one-word description of (ahem) capitalism. Own it!

I don’t know if capitalism is the best word. Capitalism could describe fascism, without the prefix free or free market. Capital is only one component of our economy. It’s not worth arguing nomenclature on this thread. I was letting you know why people have a problem with the term capitalism.
