n a wide-ranging interview on the CBS show 60 Minutes, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said President Donald Trump did not have the authority to remove him from his position. The Fed has often been the target of criticism from the Trump administration. Toward the end of last year, Bloomberg reported that the president had discussed firing Powell. When CBSs Scott Pelley asked Powell whether the president could fire him, he responded: The law is clear that I have a four-year term. And I fully intend to serve it.

Just another “in your face Trump” from NewsWEAK.
The Corleones had ways to deal with bureaucrats like this.
We should check out the links between Fed chairmembers, their spouses, and our known list of deep-swamp conspirators. Disgusting are the already-known links between democrat lawyers, TLA (Three-Letter Agency, also Three Letter Acronym) agency directors ... eg Andy McCabe’s wife running for office, receiving donations from the gubernor... coctail parties with Clinton lawyers and Obama fixers. Rosenstein’s wife (lawyer) Mueller’s wife (BFFs with new attorney gen’s wife) Puke-worthy.
It stinks to heaven.
I see no reason to borrow money from wealthy usurers when we can create our own for just the cost of production.
The FED is an abomination to our Constitution and forces us into debt slavery.
"Money" is merely a fiscal lubricant, not true wealth. Google it (while you can).
Expect Powell to help crash the economy to try to prevent Trump from getting elected.
Could you imagine him saying, “Obama doesn’t have the authority to fire me”?
Thought the FED ws an independent foster child of the BIG BANKS, not a bastard child of federal gubmint..So?
And thus the reason I could not support Ted Cruz.
Powell WILL crash the economy before the election. Count on it.
Nobody is beyond finding themselves out of a job.
Sometimes the firing is more abrupt and permanent than others.
If Jerome Powell has the least degree of good grace, he would tender his resignation. Trump should then accept the letter, but keep it in his desk drawer, to be trotted out when Powell once again becomes recalcitrant.
Isn’t that what supposedly lead to the assassination of JFK, who was said to be preparing to issue Treasure Notes in competition to the FRN’s?
Who sold him on Powell?
He can be fired for cause. And cause is defined by the President. Ask Comey about that 10 year term, sport.
Trump is also CIC. I bet he can find the same folks the Clintons use to clean up messes.
I’m sorry, but this is Trump’s fault for picking this guy:
“Powell spent most of his career at the Bush-family-linked private equity Carlyle Group, amassing millions of dollars.”

(Yeah, one could say at least he didn’t pick from Cohn, but Cohn should never have been considered or in Trump’s admin—and only was because of the vile influence of Javanka.)
The Fed has the ability to crush the economy at will, we saw that at the end of last year. Yet they are unaccountable as Powell himself insists. If they decided to line their own pockets (they being the private banks that they represent) at the expense of the country, there is nothing we can do but watch and possibly storm the bastille.
Bloomberg reported....but did he really?
Did the President volunteer that subject or perhaps he just answered a question from Bloomberg?
Seriously believe this is another case of media just trying to MAKE a story.
That right!
And, he can’t name the replacement for the head of the Consumer Protect Bureau!
Wait...wut?
He can be impeached, convicted and removed.
The Fed was created by an act of congress (legislative branch)
The FED operates under the auspices of the Executive Branch who is tasked with “executing” the law.
In executing that law...did congress or the president appoint the first Fed Chairman and Board?
