Michael Jackson might have been all those things people are saying about him but banning his music is stupid. And I say that as one who doesn't even care much for his music. I do like that 1979 "Don't Stop Until You Get Enough" song because it brings back memories of a certain girl to me. But I don't think any of it should be banned.

Not that I don't reserve the right to personally "boycott" certain artists that annoy me. For instance, I change the channel whenever something by Barbara Streisand comes on but that's my choice. I would never advocate that she be banned from airplay. If others want to listen to her, I'm not looking to get in the way of that.

“Only to despair of people who cannot distinguish between the “art” and the person.”

Well, when he was alive he made such a big show with the little boys, and now we are pummeled with the testimony of his victims, so it is hard to separate the art from the person. The art is now tied to the person with a very short rope.

I never cared for him or his music. The only kind thing I can say about him is that he looked much better as a black man (as in Thriller) than a white freak wearing panties on top of his costume and grabbing his crotch on stage.

Would have been done twenty-five years ago if the media had any integrity.

They wouldn’t dare do this to a black guy. Lucky for them he turned himself white.

While I recognize that the BBC is a government-run institution, it is still a business decision, rather than a government edict.

I would never go for the idea of the government banning someone, but a private enterprise certainly does have the right to do so.

I feel the same way. I despise the likes of Robert De Niro et al, but I don’t think they should be banned. I just choose not to watch them.

If we are giing to start dropping tunes from radio play because the artists are scum personally, we are going to run out of music to listen to real soon.

It’s not difficult to imagine him having been a prolific child molester/rapist...even if there’s no concrete proof.

I think I must be in denial, it’s hard for me to accept that Michael Jackson was a monstrously aggressive sexual predator. Was he a wierd and very troubled soul? Absolutely.

Is every accusation true? I don’t think so. There is A LOT of money involved here, most of it enriching greedy tort lawyers. Suing Michael Jackson’s estate is a lucrative business.

Pretty soon we’ll all be sitting in a darkened room listening to Anita Bryant.

Time? Did you say time? It must be about 6:30. That’s when the big hand touches the little hand.

Didn’t Anita do something to alienate the gay community? I don’t think she would be tolerated either.

I think the object of all this latest publicity is for the family to make money.

Jackson was a pedophile and should have been sentenced to prison while he was alive - that would have been justice. However, it wasn't done. Banning his music now is both laughable and inappropriate.

R. Kelly is a pedophile and is alive to face charges and hopefully prison. That's justice. Banning his music is also both laughable and absurd.

Banning their music does nothing to punish these criminals - it simply helps set the precedent that art, music and writing can be suppressed, which is not a precedent America needs.

Banish their music keeps it from taunting their victims.

It’s an old concept from my day that we used to call “Simple human decency”

Like the concepts of “honor” and “duty” it made the world a better place.
