We had a former state GOP chairman pushing that. If common sense wasn’t enough to change his mind, you’d think recent history would.
The good news / bad news is that changing the constitution is basically impossible in the current political reality. That’s good because it prevents leftist politicians from just annulling the whole thing. It’s bad because it prevents us from overruling leftists judges who do the same thing from the bench by declaring whatever whim they have as being carved into the bedrock of the constitution. This is why leftists fight like crazy to keep control of the juciciary intact (and yes, I say “keep”. They control enough low level courts to judge shop and have a solid majority in the SCOTUS now with Breyer, Sotomayor, Kagan, Ginsburg, and Roberts in their pockets)
