The best Hitler portrayer ever.
It was “FEGELEIN! FEGELEIN! FEGELEIN!”
That’s sad to hear.
That guy should have received an Oscar for that performance. He is one of those actors that portrays an historic figure so convincingly that no one can ever do it again and be as good. Like Daniel Day-Lewis as Lincoln.
And his performance will likely live on for years in meme form!
I just hope he didnt get typecast because of it.
The thing is, Downfall is a great movie.
It’s funny, but when I watched the movie, the one person I had the most contempt for over all the others, was Magda Goebbels.
“They lose me right after the bunker scene!”
One of the classic acting performances ever.
Hitler learns of Bruno Ganz’s death....
It was like a who’s-who of German actors in that movie.
I recognized the interrogator from “Sophie Scholl - The Last Days”, who was tremendous in that role. The guy who blew up his family at the dinner table, was in that movie as well.
Then I spotted the main bad guy from “The Lives of Others.”
And of course, Thomas Kretschmann, seems to be in every movie about Germans.
Hitler dies again!
Daniel Day Lewis is one of the best male actors in my lifetime (80+).

Best Hitler Ever!
Although Gary Oldman played an excellent “young” Hitler in the movie entitled “Max”.
But what was his reaction?
The Last of the Mohicans is an excellent movie. I watched it for the third or fourth time a month or so ago. It hasn’t aged a bit.
One of the better historical portrayals, was Robert Duvall as “Stalin”, albeit it may not have been the best makeup job, I thought Duvall captured the essence of Stalin.
THAT was great !
Oh yes...I saw that one.
Robert Duvall is an excellent actor.
AND the actor who portrayed Roosevelt, or the guy who played Truman.
