The closest I’ve been to one is driving south on 280 near SFO. Watching those beasts fly right over you is incredible. They seem to be floating, struggling to gain altitude, but it’s just an optical illusion. I think.
C-5s are like that. I used to see them coming in or out of Dobbins AFB every now and then, my office was near there for several years.
Yeah, driving along 27 in the vicinity of JFK can have you ducking when one of those is coming in for a landing. Hard to take your eyes off of it.
