Rep. Ilhan Omar (D.-Minn.) said in a Thursday morning hearing of the House Education and Labor Committee that the Chief Executive Officer of McDonald’s gets paid $21.8 million a year while the median earnings for workers at the restaurant chain “who put in 40 hours a day” is $7,000 per year.
The hearing was examining the possibility of lifting the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour.
On Thursday evening, Omar tweeted out a video clip of her talking at the hearing about McDonald’s workers who put in “40 hours a day.”
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D.-Mich.) then retweeted Omar’s tweet. …

that would equal 10,400 hours a year if this person only worked 5 days a week. At ten bucks and hour that person would gross $104,000 per year.
Math was not this speakers strong point.
They can’t get paid because most payroll software balks at “40 hours a day”.

She should at least be able to compute $10 per hour, 40 hours per week for 50 weeks. 10 X 40 X 50 = $20,000. Perhaps she was allowed to use a calculator starting in first grade and thus has no common sense about numbers. People like this vote on laws that can send us to jail if not followed. Yikes!

As soon as they get the $15 minimum wage they will reestablish a new poverty line. Then the call will be for $20, rinse, wash, repeat.
Gee $7.25 time 40 hours a week time 50 weeks is $14,500. Guess the congressman needs remedial math.
