Ive just started a low carb/sugar diet. Also, cutting my drinks in half. My hope is to turn the ship to a better path.
Unfortunately, I slowly drifted back to old ways of eating and the pounds started coming back. I never got back to square one but put more than half the pounds back on.
Now I'm on it for good. The benefits are real. Five weeks into it, I'm already feeling more energetic, I'm thinking a lot clearer and even my eyesight is improving (which was a pleasant surprise).
Basically I have fried eggs in the morning with some full-fat (low sugar) yogurt with frozen blueberries swirled in. Black coffee. For lunch, usually a tin of sardines and 24 raw almonds. Or I get a garden salad somewhere (with no dressing) and dump the sardines and almonds on top.
Dinner is usually meat ranging from steak to dark chicken (with skin on) to fish with some green vegetables like broccoli, brussel sprouts or asparagus (all of which is delicious raw as a snack).
Lots of water all day long. I go through at least five 16.9oz bottles of spring water. At end of day, I'll reward myself with two glasses of red wine (a bottle every two days), which is low on carbs.
Unfortunately beer is mostly out. I'll have a beer at a social event but don't have it at home anymore. Big change for me as I was used to having several beers out of the refrigerator every night. Now I just have wine in the house.
