How do you suggest that not allowing people to become citizens without accepting & embracing the Constitutional purpose be woven into the prospective citizenship process?

Modifying the path to citizenship so that adoption of American values are incorporated into the process?

That is not exactly what I meant. Perhaps indirectly, but not specifically.

I appreciate foreign culture and foreign heritage. I just think we need a pause so the vast number of people who are here now can become Americans...not just be foreigners who live here but essentially bring their country with them and want to make America their country of origin.

Outside of living within US borders, what are the unifying forces or ideas today?

If we were attacked or had to go to a true war footing like WWII, I don’t think we would be able to survive it...Too many here don’t feel they have skin in the game...They just want to get theirs...

Not mandating English as a condition of citizenship was/is a mistake IMHO. That is something I would recommend as a foundation to the common American experience.

I grew up in Chicagoland, and there were many ethnic neighborhoods and communities; however, tho the people living there retained their heritage, they were able to consider themselves Americans. And with the exception of elderly grandparents, they learned English.

Today we have such large communities of foreigners who don’t have the need or desire to adopt the language or any of the values or customs that used to be considered as being American...I used hyphenated demographics as my example previously.

I will give you some other symptoms of the problem:

The Minnesota Secretary of State website voter election page has TEN languages. Why in the world are there voters (which would mean they are US citizens) who need information in 10 languages?!?
https://www.sos.state.mn.us/elections-voting/

Look at the number of languages into which the driver’s license tests of different states are translated. For ex...California has 33, Kentucky has 23...Iowa has 21, North Dakota has 13.

So you have people driving here who are taking tests in other languages; people who are living here and they don’t speak/understand English?
https://www.usenglish.org/official-english/fact-sheets-languages-used-for-drivers-license-exams/

Here is an interesting article:
119 languages spoken in the homes of students in the Wichita School District. Wichita?! Wonder how many of them have mastered English outside of the home?
https://www.kwch.com/content/news/119-languages-spoken-in-the-homes-of-students-in-the-Wichita-School-District-396193031.html

My elementary school had one foreign student in my grade that I was aware of...just for a few years. She was somewhat of a celebrity because she was so novel...I grew up in a fairly typical Chicago bedroom community (suburb) with the exception of its proximity to a science facility. We had one Indian family renting a home in our neighborhood for a few years...Not surprising as we lived near Argonne National Lab which attracted some of the world’s top scientists.

My point is that in the past, people came to America, and they embraced America and what it stood for. America was a Judaeo Christian nation...Didn’t like America? OK fine, then don’t have to stay...There was not a push for transformation...for renaming all holidays we customarily celebrated....Easter Break was not Spring Break. Christmas vacation was not Winter Break...And we did not have time being set aside for holidays of every ethnic group.

We did not have people insisting food served in US schools be made to suit their special preferences...Ex. Halal...now we are funding it...Years ago, the school served lunch, and if you did not like it because it went against your sensitivities or more likely your tastebuds, you brought food from home...Of course today, people want and expect to be fed by the schools...
https://pjmedia.com/blog/federal-government-subsidizes-halal-food-in-public-schools/

Years ago, people who came here were not about trying to bring their country here. We had lower numbers and there were years we had minimal immigration and the immigrants became not only US citizens, but Americans...

I wonder if more people would be outraged at the push for open borders by radicals if they felt they were just “Americans” instead of “___________-Americans.” Perhaps more would want to protect our Republic, its borders and its customs.

Hard for me to quantify exactly what I am trying to express...Maybe one had to “be there.” That is why I appreciated President Trump’s perspective during the GOP primary candidate forums in 2015...President Trump was old enough to have “been there” and appreciate what it means to Make America Great Again.

However, what is happening with both legal and illegal immigration today is NOT MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN IMHO.

Congress has authority to adopt uniform rules for naturalization. Obviously naturalization is the process of conditioning imigrnts into the acceptance of our traditional values. Remember one of the avowed purposes of our even having a Federal Government-or Federal Union of States—is to secure the benefits of Liberty to an American posterity.
