KEARNEY Driving under the influence of alcohol with an unrestrained child sitting on a case of beer has cost an Elm Creek woman her drivers license.
Katherine Schroders license was revoked for 60 days. After that time frame Judge Gerry Jorgensen ordered her to have an ignition interlock device installed on any vehicle she drives during that time frame.
Schroder, 28, of rural Elm Creek was sentenced Thursday in Buffalo County Court for child abuse, DUI-first offense and leaving an accident scene, all misdemeanors. Jorgensen also placed her on probation for 1 ½ years under the standard conditions including that she serve 90 days in jail, complete intensive outpatient alcohol counseling and any aftercare program, complete a victim impact panel, and complete classes in responsible decisions, crime/victim empathy and getting motivated.

When police approached the pickup, court records say a strong odor of alcohol was coming from Schroder who reportedly had bloodshot, watery eyes. She struggled to roll down the window and placed the pickup in reverse instead of park.
Police found a 2-year-old boy unrestrained in the back seat of the pickup sitting on top of a case of beer near a loaded assault rifle, according to records.

They just HAD to throw that one in there didn't they? Hell, it was probably a shotgun. Or a Ruger 10-22.
“Katherine Schroders license was revoked for 60 days.”
Probably means she will just drive without a license for thr next 60 days.
What is this, the 1970’s?
Back.in the 70’s, one may have had an open case of beer sitting on the floor in the rear of a 1970 2 door Skylark. One may have also had 3 friends on board, open beers and the 8-track cranked to 10. One may have been pulled over by the Maryland State Police who asked “where are you headed”? One may have said “home”. And one said officer may have said “good, go straight home, and be safe”. One may say, that was in the 70’s.
Maybe she can do something useful with her 60 days suspension like teaching her kid how to blow into her car breathalyzer... at least until he starts drinking at 4.
What’s the percent of drivers who’ve had their license taken away are back out on the roads the next day?
Suck start a Harley.
