Shirley Boone, the wife of legendary 1950s singer Pat Boone, has died. She was 84.
Shirley passed away peacefully on Friday morning at the pairs home in Beverly Hills after suffering complications from vasculitis, which she had contracted less than a year ago.
In her final moments, Shirley was surrounded by her husband of 65 years and the couples four daughters, Cherry, Lindy, Debby and Laury, all of whom were by her bedside singing hymns to her as she passed.

God rest her soul, and may Pat and his family be comforted today, and every day to come.
I can’t think of a better way to make an exit from this world than with your family standing around your bed singing hymns.
Gives me goosebumps just to think of it.
“I’ve parted with my better half for a little while.”
What a beautiful statement of faith.
I have the same wish for my beloved who is with the Lord.
“I cant think of a better way to make an exit from this world than with your family standing around your bed singing hymns.”
Obviously, you have never heard my family try to sing.
As a baby boomer I have fond memories of Pat from movies and TV growing up. A beautiful age now gone. I will keep Pat in my thoughts and prayers along with with Shirley.
The Boone family is a blessing to the USA.
Rest in Peace Shirley............
RIP.
He had one of the best voices. Right up their with Elvis and Roy Orbison.
I was smiling at the thought of the family singing, but laughed right out loud at your comment.
Classy response, Blue House Sue. Really, really, really classy.
Im very sad for Pat Boone and their children although they are true believers in Christ. They will miss Shirleys earthly presence but know for certain she is in Heaven.
Sounds like she lived a wonderful life full of love.
She will now enjoy the unlimited pleasure and joys the garden of Christ gives.
We have one of Pat’s records with Shirley singing harmony. It is beautiful.
> Obviously, you have never heard my family try to sing.
LOL!!!
OK, I didn’t figure what it would be like surrounded by the tone deaf, but my kids can sing pretty good.
I doubt that there are many rock stars who have stayed married 65 years.
That’s pretty cool to die with your daughters signing hymns to you - like transitioning from angel voices to real angels.
I have often told the story of Charlie West, a widower of 89 years whose body was shutting down and the doctors told his children nothing more could be done for him and sent him home from the hospital to await his earthly demise.
There he was in a roller bed with his arms nearly black from disease. His friends and family had gathered to see him for the last time. His Bill Gothard Choir tapes humming in the background. You have never met a man more ready to die than Charlie West.
One problem. After all his meds were removed, he got better.
He improved for a few weeks and Charlie was getting angry about it. With nothing else to do one Sunday morning, he got dressed and went to church. His friends teased him by calling him ‘Lazarus’.
Charlie lasted six more months before God called him home, proving to me that we are not in control of dying. God is sovereign in when we are born and when we die.
Prayers up for the Boone family.
I've always thought of all the celebs who profess, Boone's was the best. Spoken flatly and yet with emphasis.
I was thinking the same thing. But I didnt want to say it. My brothers and I were asked to just mouth the words in our youth choir. We havent improved with age. Although one of my brothers can whistle ok.
A classy Christian family.
Dear God, please continue to bless this family.
