We can summarize 2018 in two words:
It boofed.
We’re not 100 percent sure what “boofing” is, despite the fact that this very issue was discussed in a hearing of the United States Senate Judiciary Committee. All we know for certain about boofing is that it is distasteful and stupid.
In spades.
What made this year so awful? We could list many factors, including natural disasters, man-made atrocities, the utter depravity of our national political discourse and the loss of Aretha Franklin. Instead we’ll cite one event that, while minor, epitomizes 2018: the debut of “Dr. Pimple Popper.”
This is a cable-TV reality show featuring high-definition slo-mo closeup videos of a California dermatologist performing seriously disgusting procedures on individuals with zits the size of mature cantaloupes. You might ask, “Who on Earth would voluntarily watch that?” The answer, in 2018, was: MILLIONS OF PEOPLE. That is the state of our culture. We can only imagine what new reality shows lie ahead. We would not rule out “Dr. Butt Wiper,” or “People Blow Their Noses Directly Onto The Camera Lens.”
Is there anything good we can say about 2018? Only this: It got us out of 2017. But even that didn’t work out as we hoped.

The best thing I can say about 2018 is Donald Trump is still my President.
At least Dave Barry is trashing both sides.
Though personally I love the President’s tweets, especially the ones people decry as ‘immature.’
Lately, every year is a lot more “interesting” than the year before. 2019 is the first year there is no Obamacare mandate. That will be huge. Obamacare, and health care in general, will morph before our very eyes next year.
It promises to be a doozey! Of course, it may be more than we can take without our cold civil war going hot. But that will probably wait until 2021.

Considering he's an uber-lib, Dave Barry does manage to savage his own side nearly as well as ours.
I always enjoy his stuff. It's almost surreal, yet oddly grounded in reality, rather like reading a Monty Python script.
In 1986 Dave Barry said the reason Ronald Reagan bombed Tripoli was that Muammar Gaddafi had erected a 365 ft tall middle finger facing north on the Gulf of Sidra.
He should stick to Florida drivers, Beano, and colonoscopies.

Dave Barry is over rated as a “funny” columnist IMO. I don’t find humor in pretending the Caravan Invasion is just a few Hondorians riding in a golf cart.
Study proves TDS shortens lives. Prolonged exposure leads to detachment from reality and psychotic fits of rage. Screaming at the sky occurs shortly before descending into a mental pit of hell.
