Michael Weatherly's NCIS Co-Stars Defend Him in Wake of Bull Scandal (tr)

In the wake of recent reports that Bull star Michael Weatherly made lewd comments to co-star Eliza Dushku on set, two of Weatherly’s former NCIS castmates are coming to his defense.

According to a Dec. 13 report by The New York Times, Dushku was poised to become a series regular on Bull after joining the CBS drama late in Season 1 as defense attorney J.P. Nunnelly. But Dushku said that Weatherly repeatedly made demeaning and crude comments about her during her time on the show, and when she lodged a formal complaint with the network, she was written off the show and later given a $9.5 million settlement by CBS.

Dushku claims that Weatherly made remarks about her appearance, said in front of the cast and crew that he would bend her over his leg and spank her, and suggested she wanted to have a threesome with him and a male crew member.

In separate tweets on Saturday, Pauley Perrette and Sasha Alexander — both of whom co-starred with Weatherly on NCIS — pledged their support for the actor.

“This man… I love, respect, trust, and I KNOW. TWO decades of friendship and respect,” Perrette wrote alongside a photo of her and Weatherly. “The best. I love you @M_Weatherly. Always and forever.” Alexander echoed the sentiment, writing, “I have been in trenches w/ my friend @M_Weatherly. Always laughs, true friend & [a heart] as big as they come.”

In a statement to the Times, Weatherly apologized for his behavior, acknowledging that “what I said was both not funny and not appropriate, and I am sorry and regret the pain this caused Eliza.” But despite Dushku’s account that she was written off the show shortly after confronting Weatherly about his behavior, Weatherly denied having anything to do with her character being written out.

I’ve never heard of that series and didn’t know about him not on NCIS.

NCIS lost me around the end of the Ziva era.

True.

I quit watching and noticing NCIS a long time ago.

A good series at one time.

When you do something like that and you’re surprised that the producers don’t seem to want to keep you around, what’s that say about your intelligence? What did you expect?

In the past people were making suggestions about her and Joss Whedon. Questioning if they had a relationship.

I stopped watching NCIS BECAUSE of him. He found it necessary to join Sarah Silverman and her pro abortion, anti-Christ/Christian campaign.

It was offensive and so is Michael Weatherly.

Me neither until someone sent me the link to the YouTube video. It was very disappointing. After that, and Ziva’s departure, I lost total interest in the show.

It’s good to see his co-workers backing him, unlike Roseanne’s.

He admits saying it and apologized which should have been the end of the story. It’s certainly not worth 10 million.

Never liked her and glad to see her gone from Bull. She’s just too skanky and that isn’t needed in the show.

I’m the same. Ziva was the most interesting character on the show and after she left it was just mediocre. Haven’t really watched it since.

Exactly.

The Tony and Ziva characters played off each other very well and I think were love-interests for a time.

they did have an affair she was one of many starlets that joss whedon bedded over the years. I tend not to believe anything this girl says because of rumors I heard in the past of her using sex to get jobs and then threatening the person after words to get rvem more of what she wants,

Eliza Dushku complained before.

Actress Eliza Dushku says she was molested at age 12 during production of ‘True Lies’
https://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/movies/ct-eliza-dushku-molestation-allegation-20180113-story.html

Excerpt: Actress Eliza Dushku says she was sexually molested at age 12 by a stunt coordinator during production of the 1994 film “True Lies.”

In a post on her Facebook account Saturday, Dushku also alleged that Joel Kramer, then 36, caused her to be injured on the set as payback for disclosing the alleged misconduct to a friend. Kramer denied the accusations as “lies” in trade publication interviews.

A Dushku representative didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment Saturday.

“These are outlandish, manipulated lies,” Kramer told the website Deadline. “I never sexually molested her. ... I think she’s making this up in her imagination.”

She is now married to a wealthy man 17 years older then her. Hmmm....

Stay tuned for her divorce and rich settlement.

FWIW, I read that CBS’ lawyers went through *all* the show’s tapes to find something to refute Dushku, and ended up deciding to pay her.

So, he confessed to his actions, and apologized, and yet these two people are “defending” him? I think “stand by him” was probably the phrase to be used. There seems no doubt that he did what Dushku said he did.

Note that nobody said Weatherly got her fired; I presume CBS punted her because they certainly weren’t going to get rid of the show’s star, but with him admitting to the acts, they couldn’t just force her to work with him.

The $10 million was because CBS fired her for reporting it. Not because of Weatherly’s actions.

Yes, apparently they found at least one of the incidents was caught on camera. And since he admitted to it and apologized, it would be hard for them to argue it didn’t happen.

Their mistake was firing her over it.
