'Murphy Brown,' 'Happy Together' to End After Initial Orders on CBS
THR ^ | November 28, 2018 | Lesley Goldberg

For Murphy Brown, the rebooted series was always intended to be a closed-ended order of 13 episodes. The multicamera comedy, featuring the return of star Candice Bergen and from original creator Diane English, has underperformed (6.2 million total viewers and a 0.9 in the key 18-49 demo) in its prime Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. slot and remains in consideration for a renewal. Fellow multicamera comedy Fam, starring Nina Dobrev and Tone Bell — which has already changed showrunners — will take over Murphy Brown's slot starting Thursday, Jan. 10.

So, they knowingly put out a failure.

More money than brains in Hollywood.

“they knowingly put out a failure.”

I don’t believe that for a second. Just an excuse for a dog of a show no one wanted to watch in the 1st place IMO. As far as being intended to be a closed-ended order of 13 episodes, if it was a hit I’m sure they woulda found a way to keep it on. I wonder if it’s up against the new last Man Standing sitcom. If so THAT would explain the decent into the dumper....not that they would ever admit it.

Perhaps this is another example of America voting NO to liberalism the related ‘entertainment’ Hollywood pushes.

This series reboot failure has earned a spot in the Air America hall of fame.

The PeeWee Herman "I meant to do that!" spin, when your show is a total bomb.

If anybody was watching it, it would have been renewed.

I predicted they would have a hard time finding people to watch ancient angry liberals.

The acting and scripts were much more attuned to Nickelodeon. Murphy looks and sounds awful.

Yes, they are being diengenuous. All new shows start out with an order for a certain # of shows, usually 13, like this Murphy Brown rehash. If the show is successful, it gets announced that the network has ordered a full season (13 more episodes). Obviously, this show (deservedly) tanked. Why would CBS have thought a show that had already run its course would be successful in a reboot in which its once beautiful star was fat and several original cast members had died or simply retired?

” Why would CBS have thought a show that had already run its course would be successful in a reboot”

Because they think that left leaning crap sells, and when it doesn’t as in this case they make an excuse. Same with the elections. If you notice the libs explain away their election losses with every reason EXCEPT that people reject their philosophy, ideas and values.....Unfortunately I fear the scale may be tipping on that point.

I watched about 5 minutes of the show one night while channel surfing. Good lord it was just as bad as it was thirty + years ago. Arrogance and smugness about how right and superior they (libtards) are. Nauseating from start to finish. Intellectual idiots.
