I’m missing out here.

I’ve been to one and they ended up needing security.

My wife happened to work with the wife of a local chief of police. The wedding was for their daughter.

One of the groomsmen got tanked and started a fight. Fortunately, my wife and I had already gone home.

The Chief ended up knocked on his butt trying to stop the fight and the groomsman arrested.

I have been to several wedding receptions with security - social obligations. At one, there were three bouncers just at the door, with more on duty. One looked me over, said, "he's carrying but okay" (it was Kel-Tec P-3AT in a pocket holster, the size of my cell phone, so I don't know how he knew), and let me in. Why was I carrying at a wedding? Because I suspected it would be the kind of event that needs security. Needless to say, we left early, before the wedding drunks got rowdy, but just after over the top romance started happening.

Some venues require a LE presence if alcohol is being served.
