What I want to know is if the jackpot went from 1 billion to 1.6 billion in the seven hours from the drawing to the time they announced no winners Saturday morning...

WHY didn’t the jackpot go up during the days after? People were buying tickets like crazy.

"People were buying tickets like crazy."

My local high end family owned grocer closed down the express lane (side) < 12 items which is part of the customer service area (combined @ a 90 degree angle to one another ), as they also had the portable rope off system and signs about forming a line etc to deal with the volume. 2 customers before me last night around 6:30ish. It was probably bedlam the last couple of days for this store to do this, the quick check out lane is quite popular at this store.

I've been wondering the same. It should have been higher.much.

Maybe their computers or whatever they use wasn't up to date to use such big numbers? someone pocketed the dif?

The total is projected based on past ticket sales with similar jackpots. The total didn’t actually get up to 1.6 bil.
