The problem is that the first mover in social media has everyone on it, all sides, including those muddle headed folks in the middle. If you set up an alternative for free speech you may be a lot of conservatives to join. But you won’t get any liberals, who are their family members, and you probably won’t get any of those middling folks who would see no reason to leave their comfortable existing platform. It would become an echo chamber, and would probably not be as populated by conservatives as even the censored sites are.

It’s a conundrum. I am open to the notion that the law of privately owned public space applies to these social media monopolies, and finding a way to require that they not censor speech. The government doesn’t need to regulate; it just needs to say that social media monopolies can’t censor, and then let those censored sue and force those companies to comply with the rules.
