Just wondering if anyone here has seen 'The Detectorists', a gentle comedy series about metal detecting. It's written by Mackenzie Crook, who also stars in it.
I think is was shown on a couple of channels over there.
Here's a clip: https://youtu.be/C6gSYHJhuCw
It also stars Diana Rigg's daughter Rachel Stirling, who's the spit of her mother.

It took a bit to get into due to the quirkiness of it. But it really grew on me and I loved it. The idea of finding treasure (every man’s dream!?) is what drew me into it based on the title. But that is only a minor part of what the show is about.
I wish that it would have lasted for more seasons. Might have to go watch it over again.
Love these , reminds me of Last Of The Summer Wine ,LOL
I watched the first two seasons. Downloaded it from a British torrent site I belong to. I’ve got the third and final season, but haven’t watched it yet. I like Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook. Rachael Stirling has starred in The Bletchley Circle, and in the new series: The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco that recently aired on British TV.
Yes, me too, I love it! Perhaps it'll happen.
There area a lot of good metal detecting videos on youtube.
I know what you mean - gentle stuff.
Haven’t seen Bletchley Circle - will have to take a look.
Yes indeed - my son (aged 11) and I are just getting into it. He’s a big fan of Detectorists too.
Barely discernible imho.
More like a sister of Emily Blunt.
I just looked it up on Netflix. I believe it’s only available on DVD.
Attractive girl.
I have metal detected since the late 1970s for Revolutionary and Civil War relics. I have seen the detectorists and it isnt far off the mark.
Relic hunting attracts many different characters from brilliant to crazy. It is VERY competitive especially now since good spots that have not been pounded to death are rare and many relics are quite valuable. Personally I have paid farmers to get access on areas I knew had material and had been off limits to detecting. It was worth it.
“Last Of The Summer Wine”
That may be THE most unfunny show to ever come out of the UK. Painfully unfunny and banal.
Gentle comedy describes it pretty well.
I enjoyed it. Especially liked the song they performed in the Pub and how they were so nervous about being there when they had to go on after the very good singer(who does the detectorist song). Good stuff.
Yeah! 'My New Age Girl' :-)
I am a detectorist i don’t need a movie
