A planned hunt of grizzly bears near Yellowstone National Park has trophy hunters and environmentalists on edge as a federal judge may rule as early as Thursday if the planned hunt can still go forward.
U.S. District Judge Dana Christensen is set to hear arguments in six lawsuits brought by environmental groups against a planned grizzly bear hunt that hunters say they should be allowed to participate in.
About 700 grizzlies living in and around Yellowstone National Park lost their protected status last year when they were removed from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's threatened species list.
Ranchers and officials in the region are hopeful that lifting protections will allow the state to better address grizzly attacks on livestock that have grown more frequent as the population has grown and spread into agricultural areas.

Ping!
A judge in another district will prolly have the final say.
They’re gonna kill Yogi and Booboo?? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
I always liked Yogi but that little Boo Boo was always a suck ass.
Fish & Wildlife is staffed with a bunch of libs. The state in which the park resides should have control over the wildlife.
Approximately 96 percent of the land area of Yellowstone National Park is located within the state of Wyoming. Another three percent is within Montana, with the remaining one percent in Idaho.

In order to make a proper decision I think they should bring a wild Grizzly into the court room and lock the doors for 30 minutes.
“...that little Boo Boo was always a suck ass.”
NO WAY Boo Boo was a grizzly.
FWIW I live just North of the park - a 10 year old was attacked (not too badly) last week by a grizzly in YNP.
This is an Executive branch matter. There is no role for the courts in the management of federal lands; even less when it is over state lands. If Congress doesn’t like an Executive branch decision, they can pass legislation and hope the President signs it.
Animals are immortal if they aren’t hunted!
YES WAY! But Boo Boo is a gay grizzly. Makes all the difference.
Naw but is much better to die of other causes then to be killed by a human.
All the critters I have killed told me that their deaths were much more painful then getting eat alive by another animal.
Fish and Wildlife should science, not emotions & politics.
Of course, that will never happen. Too many eco-nut liberals found comfortable / easy paychecks, benefits, and ...
I’m just an upland game bird hunter that walks up to 10 miles in thick brush hopefully having a few birds flush. My experince with bear hunters is exclusively negative. They bait these animals with sweets then use GpS tagged hounds to chase the animals up a tree where its shot. In my mind , bear hunting is not hunting.
Apparently “environmentalists” are too stupid to understand that a hunting season is necessary to preserve a healthy animal population and balance predator/prey numbers within the limits of the available food supply-otherwise one or more species starves and dies out-it is called “responsible game management”...
Well stated and so true.
Shot him in the back. I’m not surprised.
