Moscow, Russia:
Russian arms maker Kalashnikov on Thursday presented its new electric car inspired by a rare 1970s model, saying the new technology will rival Elon Musk's Tesla.
The brand, best known for the AK-47 machine gun, presented the decidedly retro-looking pale blue prototype, the CV-1, at a defense expo outside Moscow.
The look was inspired by a Soviet hatchback model developed in the 1970s called "Izh-Kombi," a statement on the Kalashnikov website said.
Holding company Kalashnikov Concern said it has developed some cutting-edge elements for the "electric supercar", including a "revolutionary" inverter. The vehicle can travel 350 kilometres on one charge.
"We are developing our own concept of an electric supercar, which is based on several original systems developed by the concern," the firm said.
"This technology will let us stand in the ranks of global electric car producers such as Tesla and be their competitor," RIA-Novosti further quoted the Kalashnikov press-service as saying.
"We were inspired by the experience of global market leaders in developing our concept."

Pink!, Comrades!.............
It reminds me of a LADA Riva.
A slammed, powder blue Opel wagon. No thanks.
Here is a CV 4. My roommate some how acquired one of these and was an immediate laughing stock. He inadvertently ran a motorcycle off the road and the gang followed him home. It took all of us and some pwerful persuasion to get the heat level down and the matter dropped.
I bought one of those from a dealer in Manil;a and had it delivered in Burlingame California. It was blue like the CV1 pictured above.
We traveled to DC our home of record on orders with a minimum of 300 miles per day. We had a 6 month old child and lots of camping gear. What a blast
Looks a lot like a TRABANT...................
The front grill tells me the car is a hybrid with a gas engine. I wonder what the range is on a full tank of gas?
It’s a Kalashnikov ................... about 1200 yards...............
Ah, the Estate version.
Close........The STATE version..............
LOL!
Looks like a Volkswagon 411.
Looks like it has a Cd of about 6.
Owned twi Squarebacks, one orange the other powder blue. Two of the best vehicles I ever bought.
And for those moments when it just wont move, it actually doubles as a toaster oven.
As a styling feature, can’t go wrong on those triple-stacked LED headlights....
Other than that, late Soviet post-modern design. Simple, sturdy and about as appealing as a used bar of soap.
