MTV VMAs Simulcast Dips 6 Percent in Ratings to Another Record Low
The Wrap ^ | August 21, 2018 | Jennifer Maas

The 2018 VMAs took a hit Monday night, sinking 6 percent in the key adults 18-49 demographic compared to last year’s simulcast, according to numbers from Nielsen.

That marks another record low for the MTV awards show, which went host-less this year.

More to come…

If it were the same MTV. They actually played music videos back then.

I think MTV nowadays has a lot of reality shows??

Are music videos still produced? Maybe online?

It seems funny to me, that a TV channel dedicated to music videos doesn’t show them anymore.

I remember they started with “reality” shows back when The Real World first aired back in 1992. Can’t imagine that anyone really watches the dreck they broadcast these days.

Plenty of videos are still made, but MTV hardly plays any.

Seriously, who watches that crap? Nobodies patting themselves on the back and being saluted by other nobodies? Really? Surely there’s a sock drawer that needs rearranging instead ...

I’m reasonably sure I haven’t watched it since the 80s.

Since videos can be watched by anyone on youtube these days, why is there still an MTV pimping product to the masses?

It ain’t hip.

It ain’t cutting edge.

It ain’t even entertaining.

MTV in the 80s refused to air this video because it mocked their top tier celebs, Michael Jackson’s Pepsi accident, and corporate sponsorship “sell-outs”. But they still gave it video of the year.

How does that work when no one could “see” it?
