But seriously, his car broke down so a bus may not have been an alternative as he may have been not on a bus route and a lot of buses shut down their routes when it gets late. Pure speculation on my part.

We dont really do mass transit here I Alabama. Even the close in Birmingham suburbs have very limited service. The one route between downtown Birmingham and the region’s largest mall in the suburb of Hoover runs about 12 times a day and has hours long periods between runs in non rush hour times.
