FULL TITLE: 'I would have let that clown jump': Trump responds to woman who climbed the Statue of Liberty to protest the president's immigration policy at Montana rally
President Trump has responded to the woman who climbed the base of the Statue of Liberty to protest his immigration policy saying he would have let 'that clown' jump.
After appearing in court on misdemeanor charges Thursday, 44-year-old Therese Okoumou claimed that she had decided to scale the statue's base on the Fourth of July to protest the Trump administration's policy that has led to the separation of thousands of children from their families.
Hours later at a rally in Great Falls, Montana, Trump told the crowd: 'I would've said: "Let's get some nets and wait 'til she comes down."'
'I would've done it.'
He went on to praise the NYPD and US Park Police for their efforts in bringing Okoumou down from the statute 89 feet above the ground, according to the New York Post.
'The bravery of doing that — what a group,' he said.
Okoumou pleaded not guilty to charges of trespassing and disorderly conduct in Manhattan Federal Court on Thursday and was released without bail after spending the night in custody.

So, no, the President wasn’t suggesting that she plummet to her death, as the headline is trying to make you believe.

There were probably people who saved for a very long time for a trip to New York on Independence Day and a chance to go to the Statue of Liberty that missed out on a once in a lifetime experience because of the selfish woman.
Find out her status and if possible, deport her. We have enough homegrown clowns without importing them.
Send her back to Congo and let her protest America there.

I couldn’t understand why they went up to get her. Why risk injury or even death - just wait til she tired of sitting there looking like an idiot and get her when she came down.

They started doing this about 55 years ago and could never figure why the crime rate suddenly went straight up.
As a boy I climbed a tree one day till I was in the top of it, as it began to sway a little. I hollered for help. My mom came out and said, You got yourself up there. Get yourself down. Trump was right on this.
