Well, that’s certainly possible, but I think that he’d have been an important conduit for Trump within DOJ on matters related to disclosure and the FBI/Obama election sting. It appears Trump has no control of DOJ...but that’s not entirely the case because Sessions has been effective pushing the Trump agenda, particularly on border and immigration issues. It’s just on this one headliner issue that Trump has no input on the actions of the agency. I think Sessions could have helped there
I do agree Trump has steered clear of the DoJ with respect to the whole Russia thing including Mueller.
The way I see it, they detected the DANGER of the fraudulent Russia play right from the beginning, and decided to QUARANTINE IT and LET IT BURN ITSELF OUT, like an EBOLA epidemic.
Like Ebola, anyone getting too close go the Russia investigations is at risk; so the strategy makes perfect sense. BUILD A WALL AROUND IT; anyone caught inside, even a few unfortunate Trump supporters, is on their own (at least for the present).
Trump can Tweet away without ever being exposed; Sessions and RR do not even have this outlet because Trump is the only authorized Tweeter in the Administration.
