CA GAS TAX REPEAL INITIATIVE WILL BE ON NOV BALLOT...YES!
28 Jun 18 | hapnHAL

Posted on 06/26/2018 8:12:58 PM PDT by hapnHal

California voters will decide this fall whether to overturn a recent increase to state gasoline and diesel taxes that has raised billions of dollars for road repairs and other transportation projects. (WHAT ROAD REPAIRS)?

Secretary of State Alex Padilla announced Monday that an initiative to repeal the tax hikes, as well as new vehicle registration fees, has qualified for the November ballot. Government officials had set a slow pace on signature verification but, after threatening action over the delay, the signature verification was completed. Thanks to Carl DeMaio Initiative Chairman.

A lot of money has been raised and it is intended for road repair.

But the best laid plans......

Just like California. Thwart the will of the people any way they can. When it passes it will be ruled unconstitutional.

With gas around $3.85/gallon for regular, by far the highest in the nation, it’s time for the Dems to raise money another way.

It would repeal the recent increase in gas taxes of $.12 per gallon. If it passes, California gasoline will only be $.88 more per gallon than the national average.

Baby steps, I suppose.

Vote them outta office. $ go.to.state.pensioms...phoney 65 mph “bullet” train....state worker unions...substandard teachers and schools(not all of them)...services for undocumented “visitors”....but the california voters still think the moneys gonna keep on comin’...thats why ca legislature passed onerous fuel tax...they still havent fixed or added roads...even with the surplus the state already has...

Let’s vote it OUT and vote Cox in. With the excitement of the gas tax repeal, we will surely get a bunch of conservatives out to vote. And John & Ken will be doing the pot-banging around the state.

Hmmm could it be??

They recently raised the tax 63 cents per gallon more...the 12 cent raise was earlier...

I listened to John & Ken one day. They were on the Registrar of Voters in LA, who was slow-walking the vetting and it looked like it wouldn’t make the November ballot. Boy were they steamed - I bet they single-handedly pushed it over the edge.

I hear it will be $5 a gallon here in California this summer. That’ll get the voters out.

Huge thank you to John and Ken. We couldn’t have done it without them.

Good grief. And here I'm whining about Colorado politics.

It can always get worse.

Can’t imagine even the low info voter would vote yes to tax themselves but let’s see how they word the initiative..I’m sure they’ll spin it with double negative, confusing language.

CA roads are crumbling. We no longer have POT holes but FOX holes. “We can fix our roads and bridges by simply ensuring that the billions of dollars that drivers are already paying in transportation fees and taxes are actually used for transportation purposes, rather than being swept into the state’s general fund,”

“With gas around $3.85/gallon for regular, by far the highest in the nation, it’s time for the Dems to raise money another way.”

Unless things have changed, a really dirty secret is the sales tax % is calculated on the total of the gasoline cost plus all of the various taxes added on to the basic gasoline tax.

Example, if your actual gas cost is $2.25 per gallon and the various other taxes are a $/gallon, Californicator sales taxes us on $3.25/gallon.
